Suggestions for Extra Readings

If you are reading faster than we are posting as a class, create pages for the books you are finishing and create short posts. Each page could represent a different book, or you could have one page which you continually update. Vary the type of responses you create from book to book.

What are some of your options for your responses? See below:

Identify the main or minor characters, the setting, the theme or significant plot elements of the book.
Sort through the novel to identify three significant characters, settings, plot points etc. . .
Describe the main character's reactions to a particular conflict, character or event.
Narrate a part of the story that was left out of the novel. Choose one character's perspective from which to tell the story.
Summarize (leaving out key details of the end .... of course) the novel's plot.
Compare (discuss similarities and differences) the novel to another novel you have also read. Compare their plots, characters, themes or style.
Explain why the setting of the novel is significant. OR  Explain an emotional reaction you had while reading the novel. OR Explain why the character has made a certain choice in the novel.
Cast the novel into a film - which actors would you have play the lead roles? Justify your choices by referring to what you know about the actors and the characters.
Persuade someone to read or not read this novel.

To create a page you need to go to NEW POST then to EDIT PAGES. Once they are created, the pages will be listed at the very top of your blog, just under your blog title and description.
.
The title of each page should be the title of the novel on which you are responding.

In the opening of each post be sure to identify the book by title and author - and consider including an image of the book cover in your post (using the Insert Image icon found on the toolbar at the top of your post).

These are your own individual posts - so feel free to take a path not outlined above. The key to this activity is VARIETY!!!

Have fun!
